Hope for Opelousas

Photographing in the Hill was my first realization that poverty was so close to home. Almost 50% of Opelousas’s residents live below the poverty line. The area known as The Hill is the poorest of the city. These children are growing up in poverty. A small group of charity workers have invested their lives in helping these children succeed. They are the Hope for Opelousas.
Those are some pretty contrasty shots. Almost IR like.
