Last night’s event was a good example of this. Earlier yesterday morning I had heard that there would be a parade of elephants walking though the Queens-Midtown Tunnel. I had to find out more about this. Come to find out the circus is in town. Apparently elephants are not very good at using escalators so they can’t get out of the trains at Penn Station. They must be let off of the trains in Queens and then walk through the tunnel and to Madison Sq Garden.

I decided that this was an event that I could not miss. So despite the rain and thunderstorms I loaded my cameras into my messenger bag and hopped onto my bike in search of the parade. Here are a few images that I took of the processional.

Another fun thing that happened late at night this past weekend was the Red Hook Criterium. It’s an un sanctioned (aka no road closures = not quite legal ) fixed gear bike race. here is a quick video i shot of it while watching. Don’t expect anything amazing, it’s more to show off the race.
